Why 42Endurance

I have been running competitively for more than a decade. During that time, I trained under several coaches, and I learned something from each of them: what worked, what didn't, and what I would have done differently.

The best advice I ever received was as simple as it was true: put your running in perspective. Count yourself incredibly lucky to be alive in this day and age, and be grateful that you can dedicate such a large part of your life to something you love so dearly. Never forget that during a race, no matter how hard (or sometimes awful) it gets, you are lucky to be there. (Sure, I also learned some important lessons about carbohydrates and fueling — the hard way.)

Eventually, I started coaching myself, both here in the Netherlands and on established training platforms. Working with runners one by one taught me how different every athlete is, and how often the best plan is simply the one that fits the person in front of you.

It also showed me what I felt was wrong with most training platforms. They either oversimplify things and hand everyone the same generic plan, or they are overcomplicated and often too expensive for most runners. They try to serve everyone at once: people who want to lose weight, people who do many different activities with running as just one of them, and competitive runners. The result is often a platform full of charts and graphs, most of which you will never need.

42Endurance is where all of that comes together. It combines my coaching experience with the science of distance running and exercise physiology, and the latest knowledge in the field. I took what is good and left out what most runners don't need. What remains is a platform built around my best workouts and training plans, adapted to your level, whether you're running your first 5K or chasing a marathon time.

I built it the way I would want to be coached: clear and personal. I hope it helps you run better, and enjoy it more.
